BA Digital Arts & Sciences (BADAS) Admission Requirements

  • At Least 60 Transferable Semester Credits
  • Minimum of 2.0 Overall GPA
  • Demonstrated English Proficiency (see below)
  • Complete UF Application
  • Provide Portfolio or Register and Complete ‘Portfolio Tutorial’ non-credit course Offered by Digital Worlds
  • Pay Application Fees

GERE Program Tuition

We make it easy and simple so all you have to do is learn and be successful.  GERE cost is inclusive of all UF tuition, fees and support services:

  • Two (2) Years or 60 Credits of Upper Division BADAS Courses
  • Summer Internship Program @ NetDragon ** (exclude flight and housing costs)
  • On-Demand Tutoring Services
  • In-Country Dedicated Student Support Specialist

**Provider and location of internship program is subject to change.  With GERE, we are adding more industry leading companies to our internship program to give our students the best possible education and career.  At the moment, our internship is scheduled from June to August. In the near future, we will be adding more frequency AND geographic global locations. 

 

 

Option A (International Institution -> University of Florida)

University of Florida Admission Requirements

What’s Required:

  • At least 60 transferable semester credits hours. 
  • Have a minimum 2.0 overall GPA and minimum 2.0 GPA at your last attended institution, as calculated by UF.
  • Applications will not be considered for admission until the Office of Admissions has received ALL required materials.
  • All documents must be accompanied by certified, literal (exact) English translations for documents not originally issued in English.
  • All academic credentials become property of the university. They will not be returned to you or forwarded to a third party. Credentials of applicants who do not enroll will be destroyed.
  • Applicants must submit official transcripts, mark sheets and examination certificates in the native language for all secondary and/or postsecondary coursework, along with certified, literal (exact) English translations for documents not originally issued in English.
  • Have completed or will complete specific requirements for your intended major before attending UF. 

Credential Evaluation

Applicants are required to submit secondary and college or university credentials from non-U.S. institutions to a credential evaluation agency for a course-by-course evaluation with grade point average calculation. Companies offering these evaluation services include:

If using the Josef Silny & Associates Credential Evaluation Application, please refer to the UF application on their site. UF also recommends any member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

English Proficiency

UF requires proficiency in spoken and written English and accepts the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The university’s TOEFL code is 5812.

Minimum scores acceptable for admissions are:

  • TOEFL: 550 (paper test); 80 (internet based)
  • IELTS: 6
  • MELAB: 77
  • Please note: The TOEFL ITP is not accepted for admission purposes.

International applicants are exempt from the English proficiency requirement if enrolled for one academic year in a degree-seeking program at a recognized/regionally accredited university or college in a country where English is the official language prior to your anticipated term of enrollment at UF, or if you are from one of the following countries.

BA in DAS Transfer Requirements

The UF Digital Worlds Institute’s BA in Digital Arts & Science program is limited access. Having the minimum GPA, prerequisite coursework, and portfolio/statement of intent does not guarantee admission. All undergraduate programs require an Associate of Arts Degree (AA degree) or a minimum of 60 transferable credits with a 2.0 cumulative GPA.

NOTE: Students with a minimum of 60 transferable credits and no AA degree will be required to complete any remaining UF general education course requirements prior to graduation.

Option B (Community College-> University of Florida)

University of Florida Admission Requirements

What’s Required

  • Have completed an Associate of Arts degree (AA Degree) from a Florida public institution. 
  • Can show proficiency in a foreign language. 
    • International applicants are exempt from the English proficiency requirement if enrolled for one academic year in a degree-seeking program at a recognized/regionally accredited university or college in a country where English is the official language prior to your anticipated term of enrollment at UF. (i.e. Santa Fe College)
  • Have a minimum 2.0 overall GPA and minimum 2.0 GPA at your last attended institution, as calculated by UF.
  • Applicants must submit official transcripts, mark sheets and examination certificates in the native language for all secondary and/or postsecondary coursework, along with certified, literal (exact) English translations for documents not originally issued in English.
  • Have completed or will complete specific requirements for your intended major before attending UF.

Take a minimum of one course from each grouping for a total of four prerequisite courses. A 2.5 minimum GPA is required in the following courses:

A studio art course (one or more)

  • ART: X301C

A computer science/literacy course (one or more)

An art history or art appreciation course (one or more)

  • ARH: X000
  • ARH: X051

A math course of pre-calculus or higher (one or more)

Portfolio Submission 

To be accepted into this program you must also apply directly to the Digital Worlds Institute via portfolio application.  A candidate may be ‘conditionally’ accepted into BADAS by:

  • Signing up for a fee-based two-week, not for credit ‘Portfolio Tutorial’ course offered by Digital Worlds.
  • Submit the required portfolio prior to first night of class

BADAS Portfolio Application refers to a body of original creative or technical work authored, documented and presented in a digital format. The submitted portfolio should contain examples of the best original work the candidate has done prior or as seeking admittance to the BADAS program. This could be work completed as part of the candidate’s previous education, or original work completed outside of the classroom demonstrating passion, talent, and skill in the areas of digital arts and sciences. Enrollment Process:

  • Create an Account with GERE
  • Complete an UF Admission Application
  • Provide a transcript to show at least 60 transferrable credits
    • If credits earned abroad => have credits evaluated by approved agency (Refer to Credential Evaluation section above for vendors)
    • If credits earned in the US=>proceed to next step
  • Submit Completed Application Package with $250 Fee
  • Complete the Portfolio Application
    • If no prior original creative work, you must sign up for a non-credit Portfolio Tutorial offered by Digital Worlds and pay a $250 fee
    • If you are able to demonstrate a body of original creative or technical work authored, documented and presented in a digital format => proceed to next step
  • GERE/BADAS Admission Review
    • If your submitted package is missing a component, this will have to be resolved within allotted window to be considered for current semester.  
  • Register for Next Semester
  • Pay GERE Tuition
  • Start Class
